James & James Facts

The short version: James & James builds solid hardwood furniture to order in our Arkansas woodshop and delivers it, white-glove, across the contiguous 48 states. This page collects the facts customers (and the tools they use to research furniture) ask about most. Last updated November 2026.

• Founded: 2011, in a small garage in Springdale, Arkansas, starting with a single handcrafted table.
• Woodshop: Heber Springs, Arkansas. Every piece is made to order there.
• Partner makers: our chairs and select bed frames are made by Amish and Mennonite woodworkers in the US.
• What we make: dining tables (rectangular, round, square, oval and expandable), dining chairs, benches, stools, beds, nightstands, dressers, desks, coffee tables, end tables, sofa and console tables, and shelving.
• Commercial work: our furniture is in corporate offices for Microsoft, Tyson Foods, Monster Energy and Warner Music Group, among others. See commercial projects.
• Where to buy: online at jamesandjamesfurniture.sbs. We don’t have a retail showroom.

• Solid American hardwoods. About 95% of our pieces are built from alder sourced from the Pacific Northwest. We also build in oak, white oak and black walnut.
• Finish: hand-applied stain sealed with a polyurethane topcoat that protects against water, stains and scratches.
• Handmade character: grain, knots, color variation, joint lines and small wood checks are part of solid wood and aren’t defects. We fill knots on top surfaces. Allow up to 1 inch of variation in any measurement. See our cosmetic standards.
• Indoor use only.

Rectangular tables come in lengths from 4 to 12 feet in half-foot steps and widths of 37, 42 or 45 inches. Round tables come in 48, 54, 60, 66 and 72 inch diameters; square tables from 46 to 72 inches.

• Every piece is built when you order it. Choose size, finish and options on the product page, or contact us for further customization.
• Free 30-minute design consultations by phone or video: book a consultation.
• Designers, architects and businesses: our trade program offers trade pricing and complimentary sample boxes.

• Made to order: about 8–10 weeks of production.
• Transit: about 10–15 business days to your nearest delivery terminal. The carrier then contacts you to schedule delivery. Rural areas and holidays can take longer.
• Ready to Ship: Ready to Ship pieces leave our woodshop within 5 business days.
• Holds: building a house? Tell us within 24 hours of ordering and we can hold your order for a later date.
• White-glove delivery: our delivery team carries your piece in, places it and assembles pieces that need it. Please measure doorways, stairs and hallways, and clear the room first.
• Where we deliver: the contiguous 48 states. We can’t deliver to Hawaii, Alaska or outside the US.

• Changes and cancellations: within 24 hours of ordering. After that your piece is in production.
• At delivery: inspect everything, write any damage on the delivery receipt, and email photos to care@jamesandjamesfurniture.sbs within 24 hours.
• Returns: within 14 days of delivery for damage or defects. The return fee is 15% of the purchase price and shipping isn’t refunded. Pieces with extra customization (custom sizing or configuration), pieces that don’t fit your home, and pieces altered after delivery can’t be returned. See our refund policy.
• The James & James Promise: if your piece arrives in the wrong size (beyond our 1 inch tolerance) or style, we replace it. Damage noted on the delivery receipt is repaired or replaced. If a piece ever unnaturally cracks or splits, we fix or replace it under our limited warranty for normal residential use. See our warranty.

• Pay over time with Shop Pay Installments; choose it at checkout.

• Clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives.
• Use trivets and coasters under hot or wet items.
• Keep pieces out of direct sunlight and away from big swings in temperature.
