The William Stool brings a warm, balanced presence to the place where a household naturally gathers. Its supportive seat and hand-assembled frame give it the substance for daily use, while its restrained silhouette keeps the surrounding kitchen or dining area feeling comfortable and uncluttered.
The William is made for the familiar moments that happen around a counter or table: a morning coffee, a quick meal, a conversation while dinner comes together. Its steady frame and supportive seat offer a dependable place to settle in without asking the room to become more formal.
Natural grain and variation give each made-to-order stool an individual presence. The wood frame adds warmth to the space and pairs easily with a range of furnishings, from more traditional pieces to a lighter, more contemporary setting.
James & James crafts every William Stool with attention to joinery, stability, and the routines of a well-used home, creating seating that is meant to remain useful and appreciated over time.

"I could not be happier with the level of customer service James & James provided. Also on an earlier order with the table, I made a mistake in the order and they went out of their way to make it right."

"My daughter is a customer of James and James. So I thought I’d try them out. Beautiful furniture I couldn’t be happier. Such quality, I had a minor question about the finish on my table and they promptly got back to me with the answer. As for delivery, they had to bring this to my new Florida residence. It was handled very nicely. Everything fell into place . This company is the best."
Every piece begins with premium American hardwoods — knotty alder, white oak, and black walnut — hand-selected, dried, and processed in our Arkansas facility before a single cut is made.
Legs and pedestal bases are shaped to exacting specifications in our Arkansas woodshop, then hand-inspected and refined by our craftsmen before they ever reach the assembly floor.
Each piece is built one at a time by our artisans to your specifications, using solid hardwood construction and time-tested joinery designed to hold up for generations of real family life.
Our in-house finishers apply your chosen stain and protective topcoat by hand, ensuring even color, rich depth, and a durable finish that ages beautifully with use.
