Black Walnut & White Oak Furniture in Premium Hardwoods
Black Walnut & White Oak gathers every piece we build in our two premium species, for shoppers who want a dining table, chair or bed in something beyond our signature knotty alder. About 95% of what we make is alder, so these designs represent a smaller, more select part of our work.
Every piece here is made to order, with the species and finish available varying by design. Browse the full range below, or use the individual finish collections for Satin, Umber, Sandstone and Hazel to narrow your search by color.
What Is the Difference Between Black Walnut and White Oak?
- Black walnut: known for its natural deep tone, offered in Satin and Umber.
- White oak: a premium oak offered in Sandstone and Hazel, with a natural-tone Satin sample.
- Both: solid American hardwoods with natural grain and color variation.
Black walnut brings depth and richness, and suits rooms where the furniture should be a focal point. White oak offers grain-forward texture that works across many styles. Both are finished by hand and sealed with a polyurethane topcoat.
Four Finishes Across Two Species
- Satin on Black Walnut: shows walnut's natural deep tone.
- Umber on Black Walnut: a deeper walnut tone.
- Sandstone on White Oak: a white oak finish, best judged on a sample.
- Hazel on White Oak: a second white oak finish for side-by-side comparison.
Each finish has its own collection, but this page brings them together so you can browse by design first. Pick the piece that fits your room, then choose the species and finish that suit your light and flooring.
Pieces Available in Premium Species
- Dining tables: Allyson, Bailey, Baluster, Farmhouse, French Country and Heirloom Dining Tables.
- Oval and petite: Fulton Oval, Heirloom Oval and Olivia Petite Dining Tables.
- Seating: Everly Side Dining Chair.
- Bedroom: Olivia Arch Bed.
Dining tables make up most of this collection, available in rectangular, oval, round and square shapes. The Everly Side Dining Chair and Olivia Arch Bed extend the premium species into seating and the bedroom.
